So I haven't written anything in quite a while. What can I say... I've been busy with life. It's amazing how fast time can just fly by in a day. In other news, I've finally been accepted into the college that I applied to. It only took them so long to get back to me. Now here I am getting ready to leave in about 2 and a half weeks, trying to register my business, which is supposed to be pretty easy but for whatever reason isn't going as smooth as I'd like. Most of it has to do with not knowing where my new physical address is going to be. I wanted to try to get an apartment to run things out of but that fell through. Now I'm assigned to a dorm room with a roommate. I'm hoping with all my heart that the person I get put with can respect the fact that I'll be running a pretty serious business.
I've actually made quite a bit of time for gaming lately as well. An old friend of mine (uncommongamer.blogspot.com) recently moved back into town (shame that I'll be moving out now) and I've been borrowing games from him lately. The most recent one being Call of Duty 4. What can I say about that game other than "Someone set us up the bomb!!!" and "For great justice". Truth be told I don't think I've ever played a FPS that made me go... "Well that was freaking in vein" to the extent that CoD 4 did. The only thing that bothered me about the game was that the infinite enemy spawn points in veteran was a huge point. Kudos to the designers for forcing the player to figure out ways to advance but sometimes it just got way to frustrating. Also, maybe it's just me being angry at the game for killing me so many times, but flash bangs don't seem to work like they should 100% of the time. I've had cases where I would through one at a group clustered together and get no results from anyone and would just die a second later. Anyhow, I beat it and am moving on. I'm hoping to have Soul Calibur 4 at the end of the week but for now I'm replaying an old favorite. You can just call be the Legendary Pie Master (Points for whoever can answer this pretty easy question)!
Now that I'm back on writing I've noticed that my last post actually had some comments on it about the level of realism in strategy games. This made me think quite a bit about the psychological values of making games more or less realistic in different genres. In my next post I will go deeper into this topic and explore some different opinions and theroies. This is a pretty serious topic to the gaming community and as gamers we often tend to have more first hand experience than those making the theories. That being said if you read it please through up a comment letting me know how you feel about the subject and if I'm entirely off the wall and loony or might be on to something.
